Overseas tour Day 79 – Jervis Bay (Hyams beach, Murray beach, Green Patch beach, Cave beach, Sanctuary Point & Jervis Bay Brewing Co.)

The Jervis Bay beaches day.

With the weather remaining mixed, we got out in the campervan and explored some of the 100 beaches within the peninsula.

Hyams beach was to be our first, but first we stopped off for brunch and had one of the best bacon & egg sandwiches on the trip to date!

Hyams beach is famed for its white sand and the squeaks it makes as you walk. It sits in an idyllic spot where bush meets beach.

From there we visited Booderee National Park and Green Patch, Murray and Cave beaches.

All are beautiful, relatively quiet and blessed with crystal clear waters.

At Cave beach we were greeted with some of the wildlife, a mob of kangaroos with their young joeys.

After a day a the many beach’s, we carried on the fun with a trip to Jervis Bay brewery to try some local beers.

Andy needed no encouragement to sample a paddle of 4 of the local brews, including a raspberry wheat beer, a punchy IPS and a super strength 6.5% XPA.

Our 2 mile walk back to the campervan definitely helped to dampen the light headiness of the beer intake.

We finished the night watching series II of Slow Horses on Apple TV bringing to an end a very enjoyable day.

  1. Hi Andy & Michelle. I am enjoying following your adventures and hope the weather picks up for you as you head along the coast in the campervan! We have never done Australia so don’t know the geography without the aid of maps, unlike you guys who I know have been very regular visitors over the years while accumulating so many friends down under. As you (Andy) will know I’m not the most IT literate and as some of your other followers may be in the same boat can I make a suggestion to make tracking your trip easier- would it be possible to include a map screenshot alongside your photos showing where you are/routes taken on each stage? If you can it would save me using two devices at a time to look up maps! Anyway keep having fun in the sun , when you find it, & safe travels. Best. Whitey.

    • Hi Whitey, glad to hear you’re enjoying the daily updates as we start our travels around Oz.
As a general guide to our travels, we are driving south down the East Coast and will be moving down to Batemans Bay tomorrow and from there regular stops before arriving in Melbourne in just over a week. After that we have a weeks stay in the city to catch some tennis and cricket, before picking up the next campervan for a 28 day trip along the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide. I will however try my best to provide a reference point (via Google Maps) to show where we are on each stop.
Finally re the weather, we have been promised sunshine from tomorrow and the return to 30 degree heat!!
      Cheers, Andy & Michelle
